EXCITING NEW CLASSES

We are happy to be offering several exciting new classes. Many classes require a sewing or embroidery machine; please let us know if you would like to use one of ours. Class fee is due when you register. You can sign up at the store, by phone or e-mail. If registering over the phone or e-mail, you must have a valid credit card. Receipts and class supply lists will be mailed to you. Full refunds on class fee will be given if you cancel seven days in advance. After that, a 50% refund will be given provided you give us 24 hours’ notice. If you do not attend a class and we are not given 24 hours notice, there will be no refund or rescheduling of your class. Classes could be cancelled if Cabell County schools are closed for snow or ice (please call ahead and use your own judgment in inclement weather). If we cancel classes, they will be rescheduled or class fee refunded. Stop by the store to register for your class. Please be considerate of your teacher and fellow classmates who may have allergies – refrain from wearing scented lotions and perfumes.

Please have your fabric and supplies purchased before the beginning time of your class.

Beginning Quilting

Always wanted to learn to quilt? Know someone who wants to quilt or just needs some refresher on techniques, this class is for you.

Instructor: Eileen Farren Three sessions: Saturdays January 19th, February 2nd and 9th. 10:00-3:00 Limit: 4 Cost: $30.00

 

Hand Appliqué/Love in Bloom

Come learn to hand appliqué on this romantic wall hanging or pillow. This class is for the beginner to experienced appliquer. Instructor: Tammy Barnett

Hand Quilting

Great way to learn to quilt that special project all by yourself. You will be bringing your own project or you can buy one of our “cheater” panels. Nothing larger than twin size please.

Free Motion Machine Quilting:

This has been one of our most popular classes. So come learn the basic techniques to using your regular sewing machine to quilt your own quilts/table runners, etc.. Instructor: Sandy Sheffield. One Session Monday January 28th 10:00-1:00 or Tuesday March 19th 5:00-8:00. Class Fee: $20.00

Turbulence

Make this interesting tumble style quilt that does not need a special ruler.

Flip and Sew Quilt

Learn to quilt as you go with this fast and easy lap/couch quilt.

Sandy used our Dr. Seuss fabric and it is adorable.

Baby’s Laundry Day – Redwork and Coloring

Turn this adorable redwork pattern that you also color (everyone loves a new box of crayons) into a wall hanging or pillow.

Fun and Fancy Bag

Everyone needs a new purse. Select the fabric for your own personality.

Stack-n-Whack w/45 degree tool

Take any material and use the 45 degree tool provided in the pattern to change your material into unique blocks.

Eileen took this class at Baby Lock tech from the designer of this bag (She went to Marshall). It is a cute over the shoulder bag with several pockets. Learn to put in decorative zippers the easy way.

Reversible Tote

Can’t decide what fabric you want to use. Make this functional reversible tote and you can use two of your favorite fabrics.

Designed by our own Larry Ford. This versatile pattern can be changed easily a purse to a wallet.

Landscape Quilt

Take your favorite picture and turn it into a beautiful Wall hanging. We will be using the Accidental Landscape Book.

Since the classes have become large, registration is now required to hold your spot since classes will be limited. Be sure to sign up early so we will have ample time to provide enough kits for some of the projects. The club is held the fourth Tuesday of each month from 10:00-12:30, 1:00 – 3:30 or from 5:30 – 8:00. Cost is $10.00 per each class session. Class limit is 7 per session. Please check your supply lists for class or call to make sure you bring everything you need.

January 22nd – Crazy Patch Learn how to do crazy patch in the hoop during this class. Use up some of your scraps to make a cute tote or pillow or even a quilt top. Lots of velvets and satins will be provided for a Crazy patch heirloom look.

February 26th – Home Tweet Home Towel: Make this cute applique towel with a scallop border.

March 26th Sewing shirt: This shirt says it all: “Don’t come between me and my sewing machine!” Choose the item you wish to embroider this great sewing saying on.

April 23 and 30th – Sewing Mat. You will want one of these mats for all your sewing machines. The mat goes under your sewing machine and has lots of pockets so your notions will be right at your finger tips. This is a two week class in order to finish the project.

Eleanor Burns – Certified Teacher

We are excited to have Carol Gibson – Welk come to teach two of Eleanor Burns quilts and her tips and techniques to our customers.

Two, one day classes will be held March 22nd and 23rd. Classes are limited to 20 students and will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church just 1/2 a block from Sew Many Blessings. She will be teaching Eleanor’s Night and Day on Friday. (We are still deciding on the second quilt and will let you know as soon as a decision is made.) Classes will be from 9:00a.m.to 5:00p.m.

Sip & Stitch

you just can’t seem to get to at home.

As a special treat for those attending Sip & Stitch, every week we will have something special on sale. You have to attend to find out what that week’s special is. Special ends at 2:00.

Spring Embroidery Retreat

Our spring Embroidery Retreat will be at the Pullman Plaza Hotel in Downtown Huntington March 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Beginning at 7:00p.m.on Friday evening Sandy will begin teaching the Anita Goodesign Quilt “The Homestead”. We will also have some small projects during the retreat.

Blocks of the Month

We are starting two new Blocks of the Month this year.

The first is Something to Crow About from Red Rooster. Cost is: $25.00 per month

Blocks will be available the second Saturday of each month beginning January 12th.

 

Our next block of the month is Marcus’ Saturday Soiree’ in Red.

This is a stunning quilt and will be available the third Saturday

of each month beginning January 19th. Cost is: $16.00

 

Fancy Ladies

Due to popular demand we are continuing the Fancy Ladies Redwork Block of the Month.

If you have not been in the store to see the “Ladies” they are stunning.

This will be held the third Thursday of each month beginning January 17th from 5:30-8:00. Cost is $15.00 and includes pattern, fabric and floss. If you have already started on the ladies and would like additional help or have decided you would like to embroider more of the ladies please come. Haven’t started them, this is the perfect time to get started.

This will only be held from January to April. In May we are going to start a whimsical Christmas Redwork Block of the Month.

 

Mill Girls – We still have some Mill Girls Block of the Month Left. Kits are $20.00 per month.

 

Machine Embroidery Block of the Month

Hand Applique

Tammy is starting a wonderful new hand applique quilt for 2013. Forest Galorest. Come see this quilt with all the forest animals. This class will be great for beginners but the most experienced hand appliquer will love. it. This class will meet the third Monday of every month beginning January 21st. Cost is $30.00. However, you will only have to purchase a kit every other month. You will come the opposing months just to work on your blocks and get instruction.
